Nevada Small Businesses To Be Impacted By ACA Employer Mandate.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal(5/4, Robison) reports on high premium increases for the ACA’s employer coverage mandate, which may impact as many as 90,000 policies across Nevada, according to Las Vegas insurance broker William Wright, president of Chamber Insurance and Benefits.
Kansas University Plans To Cut Grad Student Work Hours To Avoid ACA Mandate. The Lawrence (KS) Journal World (5/4, Unglesbee) reports that “some Kansas University graduate students are looking to a long-dormant union as a way to strengthen their voice and bargaining power,” as “the university is considering a reduction of total graduate student work hours to adapt to the Affordable Care Act, which requires employers to provide group health coverage to employees working 30 hours a week or more.” The piece explains that “most teaching and research assistants work 20 hours a week under the terms of their appointment, but many work second jobs on campus to supplement their pay,” and this proposal “would be a sizable hit to many students’ income.”
