Health Insurance Open Enrollment Period 2026

The annual Health Insurance Open Enrollment is fast approaching. There are three (3) concurrent open enrollment periods each year: Small Business group health insurance, Medicare, and Individual/family health insurance.

Small Businesses (with 2-50 employees)

November 15 to December 15. Although a business can apply for health coverage any time during the year, there are certain advantages to applying during this period. If a business applies for coverage during this time, the business does NOT have to pay ANY portion of the premium, and only two employees need to enroll to start a group plan. Many plan options such as PPO, HSA, HMO available with broad and/or national provider networks from the major insurance companies.

Medicare

Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is October 15 – December 7. During AEP Medicare eligible individuals can enroll in a Medicare Supplement, MAPD, and/or PDP plan, and/or make changes to their current plan.

Individual/Family UNDER AGE 65

November 1 to December 15 – During OEP, individuals/families can enroll in a health plan or make changes to current plans. If enrollment and changes are not completed during open enrollment, individuals/families must wait until next open enrollment, or they can enroll or make changes if they experience a qualifying event during the year.

Industry specific association health plans

…have recently been made available in Arizona for certain industries such as automotive, construction, manufacturing, and technology. These plans offer high quality, cost effective employee benefit programs, and are available for enrollment any time during the year. They include medical, dental, vision and life insurance all on one consolidated bill. Other complimentary services include online administration, customer service, and COBRA administration.
