Arkansas Medicaid Director Resigning.

The AP (5/5) reported that Andy Allison, who has run Arkansas’ Medicaid program since 2011, announced his resignation on Friday. Allison will resign on June 1.
Northwest Arkansas Online (5/2) quoted from Allison’s announcement: “Gov. Beebe, John Selig and DHS Deputy Director Janie Huddleston gave me the opportunity to lead the most innovative Medicaid program in the country. It has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am deeply appreciative.”
The Arkansas Times (5/2, Brantley) “Arkansas Blog” also reported on the resignation.
North Carolina Has New Medicaid Director. The Asheville (NC) Citizen-Times (5/2, Ball) reported that retired surgeon Robin Cummings is taking over as director of North Carolina’s Medicaid program. Cummings described the program as “the largest insurance company in North Carolina,” noting its $14 billion spending and extensive oversight requirements.
